The Sacrament of the Last Supper, by Salvador Dali
National Gallery of Art, Washington DC
1955 - Oil, 66"x 105"
It completed in 1955 after nine months of work and it has remained one of the most popular compositions.
The combination of what seems a classic Christian theme with the jarring techniques of Surrealism captures the eye, as Dali was able to do repeatedly with such works. The composition was laid out using the Golden Ratio.
